The Day Treatment intern assists in carrying out the clinical treatment program outlined by the mental health professional in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. Manage case load of at least two individual clients. Observe and do co therapy in the daily mental health groups with professional provider. Sit in on scheduled family sessions with professional provider. Participate in staff meetings, including giving feedback on student progress Maintain professional relationships with community resources by appropriate communication with families, school representatives, mental health professionals, and law enforcement; Provide appropriate role-modeling and expectations as it relates to the daily management of the students; Provide required written daily documentation regarding students as required by Day Treatment compliance regulations.

Marriage and Family interns will participate in facilitating and co-facilitating therapy to families on site and in-home. Academic progress meetings may also be attended when available. Interns will gain experience writing treatment plans and other clinical documents requiring formulation of clinical impression.

Participation in a highly structured mental health program serving youth and families. Experience working with diverse groups of children with complex mental health needs. Facilitation of therapy groups, individual therapy and skills training using evidence-based curriculum and activities. Experience in a team-intensive setting engaged in continual collaboration and consultation in the best interest of children and families. Interns carry a small caseload of clients and provide individual therapy on a weekly basis and crisis intervention as needed.

Interns may also assist in writing portions of the comprehensive diagnostic assessments. Clinical team meetings occur bi-weekly with all clinical team members attending.
