Photography Competitions. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. First of all I don't use Internet Explorer anymore. I did a while back but only about for a few minutes a month. Not my favorite browser! I removed it a few weeks ago. I wonder if that's the reason I can't remove them. If not, why is it not labeled under Internet Explorer? Should be "Temporary Internet Explorer Files". The "Read Only" attribute box for folders directories does not mean what you think it means.

Don't worry about it. Although the subject of your question suggests an inability to delete files, the body of your question doesn't mention anything about deleting. What isn't happening that you think should be happening? Are you attempting to delete the "Temporary Internet Files" folder itself? There is no good reason to do this and because it is a "System" folder, I don't think you can do it by using the GUI.

Most of these files are characterized as system, hidden files and should not normally be accessed unless you have a good understanding of what you are doing. Perhaps a screenshot of the folder you're looking at in your next post would clarify things. See this How to for XP. I'm not sure how you believe that you "removed" Internet Explorer. Completely removing IE from XP, while technically possible, is highly inadvisable. Regardless of whether you are using Internet Explorer now, files may be left in this folder from the last time you did use it.
